About the Author
Geshe Michael Roach is a Princeton graduate and the first American to receive the Geshe, or Master of Buddhism from a Tibetan Buddhist monastery after 25 years of study. He is the author of The Diamond Cutter, a global best seller which tells how he helped start a $200 million business to help the poor. Michael currently serves as CEO of Diamond Cutter Institute, which around the world teaches the secrets to personal success and great relationships.

A relationship game changer!

This book completely changed the way I approach all of my relationships- whether it be with my boyfriend, my mom, or my boss. It is a quick and easy read, using classical Buddhist techniques for solving the day to day problems that we encounter with other people that we interact with. A super cool feature is that it can be used like a relationship manual- it takes the most common 100 problems that people face with their partners and gives solutions for how to fix them. I use this book constantly as I navigate through all of my various relationships. The techniques found in this book actually helped me solve several serious relationship problems I was having. Thank you Geshe Michael Roach for writing this book!

The Magic of Love

First, I should state that I know the man, the Buddhist monk, who wrote this book. So you could say that I'm biased. This is not a conventional book on keeping the love fires burning. This is a book solidly based on Buddhist teachings about how Reality works. But don't worry - this is NOT a dry, academic, scholarly exposition of aspects of Buddhism. Geshe Michael Roach keeps it down-to-earth - and fun. He has an excellent sense of humor. Even more, as you read this book, you might feel like a good friend is talking to you. This book will also not turn you into a Buddhist. That's not the point. Love has no religion. The point of this book is to increase the love in this world. Yes, you can work with Karma without losing your religion - or taking on a new one. Karma is not a religious idea. But it does seem a little "magical" to us Western people. Geshe Michael Roach understands this - he was born and raised in America, not India or Tibet. So if you want to keep the love alive in your life, and are curious about that Karma thing...I recommend this book.

To meet your soulmate, regularly give companionship to the lonely at a nursing home!

I like taking an esoteric approach to life because earthly means are just too damn slow and unreliable. In this book Roach suggests that to find your soulmate, it may be best to give your companionship to the lonely people at a nursing home. If you want a companion, give companionship! It works for a woman in the book and within months. He also mentions that IUD copper usage has only a 1% failure rate in getting a woman pregnant and it doesn't harm the woman apparently. I didn't know about this and had wondered about birth control because I don't want any babies in my life at the moment. The soulmate nursing home trick was what I was searching for in this book but Roach provides many other interesting answers to common questions. He says it's his powerful secret weapon to think about all the good things that you have done to help people that day before going to sleep. And that to achieve something, help someone else get it first. Want more fun in your relationship? Give joy to whoever you make contact with in any one day. Generosity is the name of the game in this book and most people I know are not that giving of their time or energy.
